New Duty and Excise Tax Rates to Encourage Health Living

This is to advise that at the instigation and support of the Ministry of Health, His Majesty’s Cabinet has approved the following new duty and excise tax rates for these selected goods. The new rates were gazetted on the 14th of August 2013 and has taken effect from this date. The new rates are part of the Government’s commitment to reduce non-communicable diseases by increasing the import rates of unhealthy products and decreasing the import rates of healthy foods to encourage us all to live healthier lives.
