The Ministry of Revenue and Customs and other tax administrations from the region embarked on a four-day virtual workshop titled Improving Taxpayer Services. The workshop was launched by the Head of the Pacific Islands Tax Administration Association (PITAA), Mrs. Koni Ravono, and the Revenue Administration advisor from Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Center (PFTAC), Mr. Georg Eysselein. Raelene Vivian and Alison Lendon are conducting the presentations.

The Ministry is grateful to have 15 participants from MORC – Tonga join this workshop as it will further develop staff capacity to provide quality taxpayer services. The key features of this workshop include the continued importance of taxpayer services amid a pandemic, shifts in taxpayer expectations and their interactions with the administration, and opportunities presented to improve voluntary compliance. Countries will share their experiences of their economic stimulus initiatives and service responses to the pandemic and the strategies to improve taxpayer services.

Participants were strongly encouraged to have a smartphone or laptop to answer quiz or poll questions which must be answered individually.

The workshop is scheduled for the 17th -19th and the 24th -25th of August,2021.
