Tonga Customs Clean up volcanic ash & Tsunami debris
Three days after a major volcanic eruption of Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha`apai, Customs officers began clean up of their main office Fe`ao Moe Ngalu Customs Building located at the Queen Salote Wharf, Nuku`alofa.
The Queen Salote Wharf is located in Tonga’s major international Seaport. The Nuku`alofa Port is the entry point for Tonga’s trade with the rest of the world. Tonga Customs continues to work hard to get back on its feet to ensure that the disaster has minimal impact on its services and the facilitation of international trade.
Volcanic ash and the tsunami resulting from the volcanic eruption caused major damage to the Tongatapu, `Eua and Ha`apai island groups.
