Tax Week 2022, Closing Ceremony
The final program for Tax Week 2022 was an internal closing prayer service held on Friday 14th October 2022, at the Fe'aomoengalu Building. The guest of Honor for this closing ceremony was Mr. Kelemete Vahe- CEO for the Ministry of Revenue and Customs. This program was followed by awarding certificates for tax and customs officers who participated in several virtual trainings during the pandemic.
Tax Week 2022 started with a Prayer Service at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Mary in Ma'ufanga, officiated by Fr. Luakimi 'Okusitino on 9th October, 2022.The Honorable Acting Prime Minister – Hon. Samiu Vaipulu officially launched Tax Week on Monday, 10th October 2022, with its theme "Scaling up Digital Transformation for a Prosperous Tonga". The highlight of the launch were video demonstrations of the Ministry's technological advancements. These included the Electronics Sales Register System (ESRS), the Automated System for Customs Data commonly known as ASYCUDA World, the Non-Intrusive Equipment utilized to scan luggage, cargo, and containers, and the Electronic Tax platform known as E-Tax.
The launch was followed by seminars held from the 11th - the 13th of October at the Fe'aomoengalu Customs Building. They aimed to inform our taxpayers of the Ministry's technological platforms and encouraged them to register and utilize them to fulfill their tax and customs obligations. The Ministry is grateful to all who participated, which enabled a successful Tax Week for 2022.
