TONGA’S TIME RELEASE STUDY REPORT
The Ministry of Revenue and Customs is pleased to advise the public release of "Tonga's Time Release Study Report," a comprehensive analysis conducted by the Tonga Customs Administration with the support of the World Customs Organization and the World Bank Group.
This comprehensive report offers valuable insights into trade efficiency and transparency within the Kingdom of Tonga, with the aim of optimizing customs procedures and fostering economic growth in the region. The primary objective of the study is to streamline trade processes, identify bottlenecks causing delays, and encourage collaboration among stakeholders.
The findings highlight operational inefficiencies, assessed the impact of technology on trade operations, and examined the level of coordination among relevant entities.
The report presents actionable recommendations to enhance trade facilitation. Actions includes the implementation of digital platforms for documentation, improved inter-agency coordination, and initiatives to strengthen stakeholders' capacity.
The Ministry has begun to implement the recommendations of the report; and the anticipated impact encompasses reduced trade costs, increased revenue collection, fortified partnerships, and improved transparency for the trading community.
The report is readily available on the Ministry’s website at www.revenue.gov.to. For inquiries, please contact Mele Lutui at 7400654 or email info@customs.gov.to
